Tron (TRX) BitTorrent Praised By Cardano (ADA) Founder And Ethereum (ETH) Co-Creator Charles Hoskinson
The growth being witnessed in the cryptocurrency sector, alongside increased use of the underlying blockchain technology, means that the sector needs to be continuously innovative in order to keep up.
More often than not, it has involved this or that crypto project trying to elevate itself over the rest. It is rare to find a founder or creator of a digital token praising another- especially when it comes to a great piece of business.
Yet, that’s what Charles Hoskinson, the founder of Cardano (ADA) and CEO of IOHK did. It might not have been a direct endorsement of the TRX platform, but using it as an example points to its place as an elite project.
Hoskinson, who is also the co-creator of Ethereum (ETH), recently made reference to TRON’s new acquisition, BitTorrent, as an illustration of a protocol that wasn’t only working, but also highly scalable.
In its most basic interpretation, it means that the creator of Cardano recognizes that crypto can learn a lot from BitTorrent. So, did Justin Sun and the TRON Foundation conduct a shrewd piece of business? According to sentiments from the respected Cardano leader, it is.
He talked of the platform as a good example of what decentralization is. He went on to emphasize that it probably is one of the platforms that everyone has used before.
“So in terms of scalability, what do we want to do? Do we have any example of scalable protocols? [Everyone has] probably used it. It’s called BitTorrent.”
Charles Hoskinson, who has worked on several projects with his IOHK firm, said that his team began working on various issues affecting blockchain-based projects as early as 2015.
He spoke on the sidelines of the Crypto ICO Summit, where he noted that three main problems affect cryptocurrency. Even the top coins like bitcoin and ethereum have suffered effects of these problems in one way or the other.
These problems include scalability, which has led to the need for off-chain solutions like Lightning Network for bitcoin and sharding for ethereum.
Other challenges his company was approached to work on include interoperability and sustainability.
Charles compared the use of BitTorrent to download Game of Thrones and Pee-Wee’s Playhouse. Being highly scalable, he noted that it is extremely fast when using BitTorrent to download the popular Game of Thrones.
According to him, this explains why the GoT is the most pirated show globally.
However, downloading Pee-Wee’s Playhouse is somewhat slower due to its unpopularity. He goes on to explain:
“Well, why does it get faster? When people join a torrent’s swarm, they usually add resources more than they take. So more people, more resources, faster, better performances.”
He went on to say that BitTorrent’s speeds and wide use make it a great example of a good distributed system.
“That’s why half a billion users. That’s why a third of all the internet’s traffic is carried by this protocol. It’s wildly successful”
Tron (TRX) and BitTorrent
Justin Sun and the Tron Foundation acquired the peer-to-peer file sharing platform earlier in the year for about $120 million via Rainberry Acquisition Inc.
The crypto plans to integrate BitTorrent into its Atlas Project, helping to build the TRX network and decentralize the internet. With over 100 million daily users, the platform will greatly help TRON reach its goals of democratizing the web.
TRON’s journey is just beginning, and it has a long way to go. However, with acquisitions like BitTorrent earning praise in the industry, it is easy to see why the community remains upbeat about the potential for its token to gain in terms of market prices.
