Cryptocurrency companies have continued to gain traction all over the world as they look to develop the industry to ensure that it is safe and easy for everyone to venture into. One such company is wallet maker, Ledger.

Ledger receives Parisian startup of the year

Global accountancy giant Ernst & Young have awarded wallet maker Ledger as the Parisian startup of the year. This award is part of the annual competition organized by EY where they look for the best businesses in the country.

The competition has three main categories, best entrepreneur, startup, and social commitment, with Ledger scooping up the startup of the year award.

Appreciating the award, Ledger tweeted that the company is proud to have received the Startup of the Year Award for the Ile-de-France region from EYFrance.

This award means that Ledger has now moved to the next stage of the competition where it will compete with eight other startups for the prize of the best startup globally.

Ledger continues to expand

The cryptocurrency wallet manufacturer has also been making progress in the cryptocurrency field. Earlier this month, the company announced that it has added several new coins, including one of the top crypto players EOS

Some of the coins recently supported by EOS include; Waves (WAVES), Hycon (HYC), Rise (RISE), Pirl (PIRL), Fic Network (FIC), and Akroma (AKA). It also listed Tron a few days afterward.

The seven listed cryptocurrencies will be available as third-party apps on Ledger Live, which is a new product designed by the company with the aim of becoming a strong alternative to Chrome wallet management tools.

Not long ago, Ledger reinforced its user security protocol by introducing the “HODL” and “Recovery Check” for its Nano S wallet.

The Hodl app was created to eliminate the need to type in the address of any of the wallets residing on your Nano S. it does this by making the device appear to your computer as a virtual keyboard.

The Recovery app, on the other hand, allows users to restore configuration and verify their accounts quicker and easier.

Ledger also has its problems

The wallet manufacturer has also faced a technical problem in the past.

Earlier this year, DocDroid published a report which showed that Ledger hardware wallets suffer from a flaw that makes it possible for attackers to infect it with malware, designed to trick users into sending their cryptocurrency to the hackers.

Despite affirming that the threat is real, Ledger did nothing about it, with security researcher Saleem Rashid revealing that months later.

Despite that security challenge, Ledger still remains one of the most secure cryptocurrency hardware wallets currently available.
